The Green War #RedTapeJapan

If you follow my twitter, you'll see that his is a recap. But for those of you confused, I have decided to document the mindless, tedious and off-putting process of dealing with Apple Japan Recycle. Japan has had lots of press recently by upstaging other developed OECD states about being green and trying to be green. This is only partially true. Yes, they are working on green technologies and eco cars that don't stop, but it is only  a PR facade. Green is not easily accessible to the crowds.

And here's an example. This is Apple's 11 step process to get computers recycled for corporations. To translate it includes bleeding edge technologies like FAX and 'mail'.

In comparison, look how easy it's to recycle spent toners and drums at Xerox.

You even get the option to use Fax, phone OR web. Note that early 1990s technology in the mix!

Anyways, I started this on twitter, but I'm going to move it over to Posterous (hopefully) and continue the trash talk (haha).

Step 1: Fill out archaic form to FAX... Why can't this be a web form?!

Step 1a: Wait. Wait. Wait. Make castles out of batteries to be recycled.

Step 1b: Examine the dangers of batteries as kindergarten toys.
And it continues!
